What is engineered flooring?
The whole board is made of different woods.
The top layer is solid wood, with a layer of wood pieces or plywood laid at 90° to the top layer to create stability.
The bottom layer is laid the same as the top layer.

What is solid wood flooring?
Exactly as it sounds, one piece of solid wood requiring glue or naildown installation.

What is a floating floor?
A flooring system laid down over underlay. While the individual planks are locked or glued together, the individual planks are not nailed or glued to the sub floor. Instead the planks form a system that "floats" over the layer of underlay.

Can I install Chieftain® flooring in any room?
The classic and antique floors are designed for kitchens, living and bedroom areas, however the multi ply flooring can be laid over underfloor heating. None of the flooring is designed to have water or steam applied directly and is therefore not suitable for bathrooms.

How do I clean my prefinished floor?

  • Keep grit off the floor
  • Dry mop or vacuum frequently
  • Keep doormats clean
  • Wipe up spills promptly with a dry cloth
  • Use a slightly damp cloth for sticky spills
  • To return lustre - dry mop thoroughly and immediately mop with a damp cloth - no soap or detergent is required

What does the Chieftain® guarantee cover?
A fifteen year guarantee is offered to the original purchaser covering:

  • Manufacturing defects including delamination
  • UV miraphen® finish
